Portfolio: Vintage Subway Train Engagement Shoot with Photomuse

Sometimes it takes a few photos to realize how busy we've been! Right after the holidays, Merci New York partnered with Photomuse on a pretty amazing contest... a vintage-inspired engagement shoot on a moving {rattling, shaking, and all-out fun} forties subway car.
Each holiday season, the NYC Transit Authority rolls the vintage trains out of the transit museum and onto the tracks in Brooklyn, Queens and Manhattan. Kristin Reimer and Steven Fontas of Photomuse had the brilliant idea of gifting one vintage-loving couple with a Merci-styled engagement shoot {enter forties fashion and props!} aboard the train and all around the city... After some outreach around the blogosphere, the team landed on a winning couple - Liz and Joel from Brooklyn. We had quite the fun day.
We met our lucky winners the day after Christmas at the Photomuse studio. As a blizzard began outside, everyone scurried underground {and through three boroughs} to snag these fabulous shots of the adorable couple in all their vintage glory. Kristen and Steven really captured the chemistry between Liz and Joel, and I had an absolute blast developing and maintaining their vintage looks and era-inspired props.Take a peek... One of my favorite parts of the day was the curious crowd. The subway was actually packed with tourists and train enthusiasts alike, but Photomuse did such a wonderful job in capturing Liz and Joel's love story, that it truly looked like this was a chance encounter on a quiet late night train. While people craned their necks to see what sort of New York story was transpiring, the photographers snapped away, totally in their element, creating these gorgeous shots. It was such fun to style the shoot and help make their vision a reality.
