Celebrating makeup guru Roxanna Floyd

I recently got the shocking news that my friend, celebrity makeup artist Roxanna Floyd has passed away.  I worked with Roxanna many times as one of three members of the "Mary Kay Professional Makeup Artist" team.   Not only was she one of the most amazing makeup artists I've ever met she was also one of the nicest and kindest individuals.  Known for her attention to detail her wonderful career included over 200 magazine covers, many films and was the makeup guru to tons of celebrities.
I always remember a trip we did together to Puerto Rico and the fun we had.  She filled my head on that trip with her many "Whitney" stories, as she was her personal makeup artist.  She was always an inspiration to me and had consulted for many cosmetic companies.  Often I heard her comment about cosmetic companies not making enough products for women of color and was actually the master mind behind many makeup brands darker skin makeup collections.
She was instrumental in the creation of Covergirl's "Queen Collection" with Queen Latifah and lately was the Creative Beauty director for Fashion Fair Cosmetics.
Roxie was friends with and worked on celebrities like Halle Berry, Angela Bassett, Ashanti and Mary J. Blige as well as many others.
She will be missed in the industry as a whole and I wish the best to her family in Brooklyn.
Rest in peace Roxie!
