Spring 2010 makeup up trends--Days 4/5

Here are some of the beauty highlights from yesterday and today's shows:

1- Marc Jacobs:

According to makeup mogul Francois Nars, the inspiration for Marc Jacobs's spring 2010 beauty look was "ballerina, cabaret girl. . . broadway show meets opera meets Martha Graham. . . with a touch maybe of gothic". Nars used "tons of powder", liquid eyeliner, and two pairs of false eyelashes on each model.
I think it looks a little more "kabuki" than cabaret girl but really the eyeliner was beautiful on the girls and it was nice to see lipsticks on a spring show right now.

2- Derek Lam:

Tom Pecheux for NARS Cosmetics created this vivid look. "I wanted to dot the lips red with my fingers rather than draw a straight line of color," he said. "Instead, I chose to do that with the eyes. I love when the multiple colors are drawn straight across and outward for a very tribal effect . . . It was Coney Island chic," he added.
How can you actually wear this look?  stick to a neutral tone on the upper eye lid and do a slight wash of a color on the lower lid.
3- Donna Karan:

Lead makeup artist Pat McGrath for Covergirl painted models up to mimic statues.  "The look is very pale, but really beautiful," said McGrath.
To recreate McGrath's goddess-like glow, apply Clean Makeup Foundation over entire face. Lightly blot Simply Ageless Corrector (which contains Olay so it doesn't crack) around eye area to conceal any blemishes or dark spots. Give cheeks "a bit of pink" with Simply Ageless Sculpting Blush in Plush Peach and Rich Cinnamon, blending up towards the temples. Brush Shadow Blast Pencil in Silver Sky over the lids, before dramatically lining with white pencil. And to finish, use a little foundation to tone down lips. (all by Covergirl)
I say this looks says-it's great on the runway but maybe not in person.  The white eyeliner look is best left at the waterline.  A silvery white can look great for a fun look. Love the sparkle on the cheeks.
4- Diane Von Furstenberg:

"The clothes are very Bohemian, seductive, and adventurous," said makeup artist James Kaliardos for MAC of the collection. So the makeup, he said, was "colorful and glittery to also reflect Diane at Studio 54."
I'm really into that "teardrop" of glittery silver or gold in the inner corners of the eye (very wearable-just tone down the amount of sparkle to the tone you actually use)  Once again, we see that golden brown color on the lids.  Pale mouth but this time is glossy.
5- DKNY:

"The accent for this look is the lashes," said makeup artist Charlotte Willer. "Donna [Karan] wanted us to find something different without being over the top." To create the look, Willer brushed shimmery golden highlighter on the models' lids. Then she layered volumizing mascara on the lashes, followed by a mix of a bright aqua shadow and Vaseline.
The rest of the makeup was simple: Pink and peach blush, a dab of highlighter, and posey-pink lipstick. When needed, Willer filled out sparse brows with pencil.
